Making a JR transmitter work with a JR reciever?

i have a Jr s400 transmitter and i bought a JR s600 reciever i have one crystal and i cannot get it to work do i need a crystal for both the receiver and the transmitter

Yes, both the receiver and transmitter need a crystal, unless it is a synthesized or 2.4ghz system. The crystals also need to match. They both have to be on the same band(27mhz or 75mhz, or 40mhz,etc), and they both need to be on the same modulation(AM or FM. 2.4ghz doesn't use crystals). Lastly, they must be used in the right part. Meaning that a TX(transmitter) crystal must be used in the transmitter, and a RX(receiver) crystal must be used in the receiver.
