Parts Lot
Why are fewer Dems now against giving a lot more money to GM & the auto parts companies?
Public support for more money has dropped from 60% to 25%.
Weren't Dems and Obama saying just weeks ago that "bankruptcy is not an option"?
I can't speak for all Democrats, but I can give you my own opinion... I'm tired of rewarding bad business practices with the safety net of bailouts. These bailouts set a dangerous precedent for rewarding bad business practices and serve as a set-up for future failure. A few months ago we were told the financial institutions were "too big to fail"... then they used bailout funds and unapproved tax breaks (see Tax Code, Section 382) to make themselves even larger. Many blame the UAW for the problems in the auto industry. I admit the wages and benefits are significantly higher than non-union wages, but I have a hard time placing the blame on people trying to make a solid middle class wage while the business practices of the auto giants go uncriticized. For example, I dare anyone to watch "Who Killed the Electric Car?" and then justify a bailout for GM.

Do drunken British tourists or expats cause a lot of trouble in parts of Europe?
I keep hearing they form English only speaking communities, cause a lot of noise, start fights, and are drunk in public, in many parts of Europe that are otherwise peaceful...even Lourdes.
Expats in the true form of the word generally do not have time to "cause a lot of noise, start fights, and are drunk in public". Having a full time job and having to learn a foreign language plus spend time with the family (where applicable) usually swallows up freetime anyway
If you are talking about holiday makers, well this can be a different story (not just British though btw) as people are different on holiday and excess boozing can & does lead to trouble.
I live close to Amsterdam which attracts it's fair share of boozers, but fortunately they are the minority and not the majority!

Silence, I guess you are referencing the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority that was ruled as being unconstitutional by Virginia’s Supreme Court. So, you’re blaming the south and west of the Commonwealth for that legal rendering?

If you could find out whether East Penn has supplied any batteries to new car manufacturers or any manufacturers in volume, then you could research recalls for those manufacturers resulting from problems with East Penn batteries. The idea is to find applications where thousands of their batteries are in service and therefore get the most chance for failure reports similar to yours.
