Muffler Parts My muffler part of my exhaust fell off, Is it safe to drive still?
On the way home last night part of my exhaust fell off. Its the muffler box and the pipe that comes out at the back of the car.
Apart from making a bit of a noise is it safe to drive?
The fumes are now coming out of the remaining part of the pipe which is about half way along the underside of the car. I need to get to work tonight.

FORGOT TO ASK: Will the heat coming out of it be an issue?
The exhaust fumes are blown away when traveling down the highway, but it's possible some could be drawn into the car even then. However, if you keep some windows open, I think you can drive it for a day or two. Worst case is when your sitting with the car idling for long periods with all the windows closed. Carbon monoxide could build up in the car and you may not realize it. Don't worry about the added heat under the car. Just don't sit still and let the engine idle any longer than you have to.

What would happen if i dont fix my muffler and exhaust tail pipe?
i have an old pickup and everything from the muffler to the tail pipe has holes and are rusted. is this something i have to replace now or later. and if later how long should i wait to fix it and what will it affect if i dont? and is paying $300 to replace it including parts and labor a good price and i think the parts are stainless steel.thanks
if this is an on the road vehicle you had better get it fixed as soon as possible unless you likes seeing red lights in your rear view mirror. if it one you just use around the farm just but a cheap muffler and stick it on whatever pipe you have left that is not rusted and drive on.
