Medallion Model

Rifle barrels (270. win)?
I am getting a new 270. win model 70 or a browning A-Bolt. Now i asked a question before and someone told me to get a winchester model 70 sporter dulexe with a 24" barrel over the featherlight with a 22" barrel. What is the difference and why does it matter? The Browning A-Bolt Medallion has the 22" barrel. I prefer the sporter dulexe over the featherlight so now i have to decide between the Medallion with a 22" or the sporter dulexe with a 24".
I've used the Winchester model 70 featherweight for many many years. I'll put it up against the longer barreled rifle any day. I've never found a good reason in a hunting rifle for that extra 2" and I have fired side by side with poeple sighting their rifles with the longer barrel and have yet to be "out shot" by one of them. I've even made a shot at 600 yards on a big elk with it. Granted, conditions were perfect, and I was in my prime ( I doubt I could even see and elk at 600 yards now LOL!!)
seriously, I enjoy the lighter weight of the rifle, and would not change over to a longer barrel or the heavier weight for anything.
shoot safe
