Dragon Quest 8 weapon skill question. PLEASE HELP!!!!!?

i'm starting a new game on dragon quest 8 i was just wondering about jessica and yangus's weapon skills last time i played i maxed out jessicas staff skill, it wasn't that useful so i was wondering which would be the best weapon for jessica to master knife,whip,or fictcuffs if you could please tell me what useful skills you learn when you master which weapon and which one you would prefer the most for jessica.

as for yangus i maxed out his axe skill the first time i played it wasn't that useful either. i'm not sure if i should max out his scythe,club,or fistcuff i'm leaning towards the scyther skill but i'm not sure. could someone please help?

I recommend the whips for Jessica, but the staff skills are helpful. Level the whips first. For Yangus, I usually level the axe skill, but the scythe skill is great, too. Here is a good walkthrough I used for the game:

Runescape High Level Weapons?

Im a lvl 71 with 71 att, 53 str, and 50 def. I got a whip about a month ago, and my max hit is only been a 14! With d longs i hit 16s and dragon battle axe spec i hit 20s. Should I sell my whip and do monkey madness and get a dragon scimitar like most prefer?
I've already done Heroes so I should be able to handle it. I started Monkey Madness and died cuz my prayer is only 35. I've already watched some videos about monkey madness ending. I figured i'll let the 10th squad kill him almost and then hit em with my dd p++

Your problem right now is your str level. It is best to keep all three (atk, str, and def) balanced...but if not all three, then at least attk and str.
If you want to go back to the baxe for the higher hits, then just remember it is a much slower weapon.

I guarantee as soon as your levels are balanced, you'll find the whip to be a very powerful, quick and efficient weapon. Yet, seeing as your probably won't have balanced combat levels for some time, go ahead, sell the whip and return to a dragon weapon.

As for Monkey Madness, go ahead and do it. It is a useful quest; not just for the d scimi, but also because it is one of the prerequisites for Recipe for Disaster. In the future, after you complete RFD, you can gain access to all the gloves from the Culinaromancer's chest (barrows and dragon among the many other gloves in there). Those gloves will help improve your combat bonuses.
