Is it possible to create a one man flying machine using air and battery power?
Can you build a flight machine, about the same diameter as a large truck tyre with a half sphere on the bottom, inclusive in this is a large battery supply obviously not too heavy and coupled with small lightweight brushless motors hooked up to a few micro concentrated fan blades for maximum stability.
What would the fan output measured in km per hour need to be for each fan to lift the machine and the human, human roughly 80kg and machine roughly 40kg from my estimations, and thats if i use a cheap hardened plastic instead of aluminium.
also, what kind of stabilization methods could be used for this? I'm thinking along the lines of whats built into the itouch along with a small equation hooked up to a slightly more advanced alternator to then periodically change the power from each motor to account for a change in wwight/wind and the obvious one, the instability of using fans instead of say jet propultion.
Whats the verdict, i've been thinking about this for some time.
why are fans (usually called propellers) more unstable than jets? before 1950 or so, every airplane was propelled by propellers.
You seem to want a vertical takeoff aircraft, which is probably not possible as it would take a lot more power than a conventional fixed wing aircraft.
Stabilization of a helicopter is difficult and takes a lot of special mechanics. Look up helicopter control on the internet.
Stick with a conventionally configured aircraft with a propeller in front, you will have a much better chance of success.

A laminate hardwood floor installation may be just what the doctor ordered for overloaded, desperate housewives and executives. These low-maintenance, easy-care lines minimize flooring fiasco's and finicky cleaning chores. So, how exactly do you take care of this gleaming new baby in the home? With a bit of laminate hardwood floor know-how, you are sure to click with the newest member of the family home...
Rule number one with a laminate hardwood floor is to view water and other fluids as the arch-enemy. Any standing fluids may leak into the joints of the flooring, causing the all-important inner core to swell. In next to no time, you will have an unsightly buckling, warping, blistering floor. In bathrooms and kitchens you need to be diligent about sealing and the use of glue. Every nook and cranny has to be treated with your caulking gun if you are to preserve the good looks of your hardwood flooring.
Immediately after the laminate hardwood floor installation, you may wish to try a product such as Pergo After Installation Cleaner. This will easily lift any glue residue and the dust caused by the cutting of the planks.
A laminate hardwood floor's texture doesn't have an affinity for dirt and dust. Therefore, keeping the floor spotless is a snap. For day to day dirt, a dust mop or brushless vacuum is all you need. From time to time, a wipe with a damp mop will suffice.
The major laminate flooring manufacturers such as pergo Flooring and Armstrong Flooring all have their own dedicated cleaning products. These easy to use products are simply sprayed on and wiped off, and should take care of spots such as wine, juice or grease. Alternatively, a mixture of 1 cup vinegar to a gallon of warm water can be used. However, never make this a wet, watery wash. Always dry the mop thoroughly before going near the flooring.
Laminate hardwood floor installations have an aversion to detergent-based cleaners, waxes, polish, abrasive cleaners and scouring pads. Don't touch your floor with any of these. The waxes leave a dull film and the cleaners may damage the protective wear layer. You need to take great care to follow the warranty maintenance conditions closely. Any deviation from these may void your guarantee.
Ordinary acetone nail polish remover takes care of tough spots such as lipstick, crayon, paint or cigarette burns on your laminate hardwood floor. Be careful not to use the remover on the moldings. Candle wax or chewing gum can be hardened with ice and then gently scraped off with a blunt plastic scraper. Do this with great care.
Apart from general cleaning, you simply need to use a bit of common sense to retain your laminate hardwood floor's shine and style for years to come. One of the best things you can do, is to place non-slip rugs in doorways. This precaution will trap much of the gravel and grit that would otherwise be trudged all over your floors, causing scratches and scuff marks. Just ensure that the backing of the rugs is safe and that it won't discolor your flooring.
Felt pads can be placed underneath furniture legs. Casters need to be rubber-based. Even then, it is safer to lift a piece of furniture, rather than slide it over the floor. Alternatively place a rug underneath to protect the laminate hardwood flooring installation. Keep pet nails trimmed to prevent scratches.
You have to accept that at some point there will be the inevitable mishap. Small dents or cracks can be repaired with a Finishing Putty solution. The edges of the damaged area can be neatened with a small knife. The area is then filled with putty, and gently smoothed with a plastic scraper. Wipe any excess away with a white, damp cloth. Color-coordinated pens are also available to lessen the visibility of small scratches.
The main benefit of a laminate hardwood floor installation is that a major accident doesn't have to turn into a flooring fiasco. If you managed to put away a box of spare planks as recommended, you will be able to replace the damaged area with ease. If you are unsure about attempting this task yourself, ask for professional help. Always double check with your supplier about any steps you take with regards to maintenance and cleaning solutions.
Give your laminate hardwood floor installation tender loving care, and it will be a decorating and interior design asset for many years.
