    I've been hoping for a mass-produced, injection-molded styrene model kit of the Proteus since the movie came out 43 years ago. I wouldn't recommend holding your breath waiting for one.

    An outfit called Delux Vacuform used to make a small kit of the Proteus, but it's so inaccurate as to be a caricature. Lunar Models made a nice Proteus garage kit in approximate 1/32 scale (about 15 inches long), but it was rather expensive and the company is now out of business. And check out this digitally mastered, 1/72 scale resin kit — it's 100 percent accurate and includes ALL of the interior detail. Amazing for a model just over 7 inches long. Don't know about pricing or current availability, though.
