How can i rethread the spark plug hole in my riding lawnmower? It is a v-twin 19.5hp briggs & stratton engine?


I was putting the spark plugs in after cleaning them and i stripped out the hole on the left cylinder. I have never used a heli-coil instert but it sounds easy and i have plenty of mechanical experience (even though i did something as dumb as strip a plug hole) But if i had to drill and tap how would i get out all the metal shavings from inside the cylinder? What all tools are needed? The threads on the hole are shot.

its easy to screw them up,,the briggs are mostly aluminum.. Versus the Tecumseh's which are cast iron (tougher)
Ty either the briggs website or the Sears website for parts. You may be able to get a new head for that side.

What size Heli-Coils should i get?


I have a 1994 Honda Accord with a VTEC engine. There are 5 bolts holding the valve cover on. They are a carriage style with rubber gromet/gasket at the head of the bolt. The Engine block threads are stripped/missing. What size Heli-Coil kit should i buy to fix problem? And also can i still use original bolts, or do i need replacement bolts? (The bolts are not stripped, the engine block threads are)

retap it carefully and get some heat treated bolts to fit but dont try to crank it down when your ready for the gasket
