Engine Throttle

Why would using the throttle cause an engine to stall?

On my buddy's ninja ZX-6R when he uses the throttle the engine cuts off but the choke works just fine. The only difference we see between the choke and throttle is that the throttle opens the airflow so we are guessing that it has something to do with the air/fuel mixture but we cannot be sure.

Let me guess. The bike sat for a long time. ( more than 4 months ).

Dirty Carbs. Run several takes of gas with strong carb cleaner in it.
