Is cricket phone service any good?

I need a cell phone and i don't want to comet to a plan at the moment.
I heard about cricket , there phones are pretty simple, a little expensive but it's unlimited everything for $50. I just don't want it to be some sort of scam.

its not a scam. I have multiple cell phones but I've had cricket for 8 years and the company has good customer service. like the guy above me said you have to figure where your needing to use the cell phone the most. if you stay around your neighboring towns its a great deal. but if you travel a lot I suggest not getting this phone as it only works in areas that have cricket service. phones are bit more expensive but with the montly service costs low its a steal.
