Charger Balancer

The 1988 Volvo 240 series automobile. Compact estate sedan and wagon.?

This car has a simple disign. Full body on frame. 1 air bag. 4 door sedan. Live rear axle. Vertical inline 4 cylinder. 4 speed automatic or 5 speed manual. Points, distributor cap, coil, and rotor.

Now does the car have a carburetor? Does it have emmissions controls? It's a 2.3 Liter 4 cylinder that has the cooling fan attached to the crank shaft harmonic balancer via a cooling fan thermo/mechanical clutch.

It's actually not that heavy a car. BUT it's got plenty of torque for a 4 banger. And the car is box shaped and extreamly safe.

PLEASE tell me now, why is it the car only gets 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway? 19mpg overall. That is pittifull!

Is there any way to boost gas mileage? Can you install a modified crank shaft to increase compression? How about a Turbo-Charger? How about CDI Ignition? How about replacing/swapping an automatic transmission for a manual, could that be done? Larger intake? Larger exhaust? HOW???

This car has electronic fuel injection and electronic ignition. The 240 was and still is one of Volvo's best but it is does suffer from relatively poor gas mileage. The figures you quote seem unusually low however. The automatic transmission could be a factor but I'd recommend a complete tune-up by someone who really knows these cars. Turbo? That wouldn't help. CD ignition? It already has electronic ignition which is why I'm puzzled by your "points" comment. It is in fact a fairly heavy car to be powered by a four-cylinder engine. You might gain a bit with a less restrictive exhaust system but the fact remains is that these cars are just not that economical.

What is the difference between a balancer and a charger?

Im going to buy an rc airplane that comes with a balance charger for the lipo battery but i don't know if that will just balance the current of a charger or if it will plug into the wall and actually charge it. It comes with a connector with alligator clips, but im not sure if that's all. You can find the plane at http://www.nitroplanes.com/army-exceed-r… . Well by the looks of the picture. This is a new design that we are starting to do for our RC Trucks here at traxxas. Its a Balancer and charger combined. Thats from the looks of the picture. But if its a RTR plane then im shure thats what it is. But if its a Kit then im shure its just a balancer. Thats something i would contact the manufacture about. If its just a balancer then you will need a Lipo compatiable charger to charge the battery. Really all a Balancer does is equalize the cells in the battery and level cell 1 with cell 2. If its a single cell lipo then you dont need to worry about a balancer. But when u are messing with 2cell and 3cell lipo u need to balance them offten.
